A Zoom event beginning at 7.00 pm
Andrew Wincott, in conversation with Rose volunteer Linda Shannon, will discuss his career in radio, theatre and audio, particularly his life in Ambridge as alter-ego Adam Macy.
Andrew has been acting professionally for almost 35 years, working in theatres all over the UK, and sometimes abroad (playing leading roles in Shakespeare, Stoppard, Sheridan, Schaffer and Shaw). For nearly 20 years he’s played Adam in The Archers, celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2021, and Simon in the Sony Award-winning Clare in the Community for the BBC. Twice he’s been a member of the BBC’s Radio Drama Company, performing in hundreds of radio plays (highlights include playing Steerforth in David Copperfield, Newland in The Age of Innocence and Iachimo in Cymbeline). Andrew’s also created countless characters for computer games and narrated hundreds of audiobooks — most recently the short stories of Graham Greene; the new novel by David Mitchell, Utopia Avenue; and classic works by Jules Verne, Gustave Flaubert, Kenneth Grahame and George Orwell.
