Brush up your Shakespeare and Marlowe
Here’s your chance to participate in six of their best plays, in the Friends of The Rose’s sixth readathon. Some celebrities will be there to read. You’ll realise from the timings that the readings will just be that. If you feel you want to love, live or die your part (whatever is required), however, then please do so. It’ll be your chance to act in the very same spot that Will and Kit did (and something to tell your grandchildren).
The reading of each play has to be done within one hour. A script (edited down) will of course be provided for each part, and the parts will be picked out of a hat on a first-come, first-served basis, so it will be best to arrive early to have a chance to look at your script. Because it’s a fund (and fun)-raising day for The Rose, you’ll have to part with £10 to read or £5 as an audience member. You’ll learn a lot about the theatre, have fun, meet other like-minded enthusiasts and perhaps act with a professional. Of course you could become a member, and help as a Volunteer, too — just ask one of the site Volunteers.
To sustain you through the day, there will be Tudor snacks, cake, tea and coffee available in the foyer on your way in. How cool is that! Book your tickets at TryBooking.
Please note there will be no entry to the building during the plays and we politely request people leave promptly after each play.

We hope to see you on 3 June.
