William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing

Sessions at 12 noon and 2 pm

Visit The Rose and take part in a bit of Shakespeare!

We’ll be using an hour-long version of the play. You’ll select your part from a hat (and how exciting is that — you could even end up playing the lead!). No acting is necessary; we just ask that you stand to read your part. You can of course act it out (and encourage the rest of us). You’ll be doing so in the same place that William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe (that purported Elizabethan bad boy) saw their plays performed more than 400 years ago.

Once the parts are distributed you will find out a little bit about cue scripts, and if you are very brave you may exchange your nice, comfortable full script for one. After an inspirational message from Dame Judi Dench, the reading will begin.

You’ll have a chance to watch a 20-minute film about The Rose, narrated by Sir Ian McKellen, who is another long-time supporter. Your visit will finish with a brief introduction to the Rose Revealed Project.
